On Tuesday the 7th of November the 163rd Melbourne Cup will be run.  Dubbed ‘the race that stops a nation’, the Melbourne Cup is perhaps the most anticipated event in the Australian racing calendar.

Both our Ballarat and Gisborne offices will be closed for the public holiday here in Victoria.

The Melbourne Cup is famous for the fun, fashion and a chance to have a flutter on the horses.

As is tradition, there will be Melbourne Cup sweeps being organised at social gatherings and workplaces throughout the country.

Whilst a sweep is a bit of informal fun, there are actually rules that organisers must follow.
